WHAT WE DO IN AFRICA

VOCATIONAL TRAINING AT THE BOLLE DETENTION CENTER FOR MINORS

A partnership has been fostered since 2012 between the Bollé detention center specialized in the reeducation and reintegration of juvenile offenders, headed by its emblematic director, Mr. Moussa Sarawi Maïga.

We have initiated a long-term approach sparked by his competent counsel with a view to deliberately cater for the vocational training of those youths deprived of liberty in order to increase their chances of social reintegration.

In 2013, we received from the hands of the French delegate minister for Development, Mr. Pascal Canfin, the laureate's prize for the PRA/OSIM(*)'s10th anniversary awarding our project to consolidate the Bollé prison's pedagogical and professional unit by the setting up of a seminar on the tanneries' industry and trade.

This project is being followed up in 2014 with the widening of the training offer which includes a module on the production of sanitary facilities and, in particular, the designing and constructing of latrines.
.
 * PRA/OSIM is a French government-backed support program dedicated to projects carried out by international solidarity organizations related to migrants' initiatives; its objective is to nurture the contribution of the migrants' diasporas to the development in their countries of origin thanks to a better access to joint-financing solutions and a better knowledge of codevelopment practices.

PROMOTION OF ARTEMISIA

2011: creation of a sister-organization in Bamako, Mali, to organize a symposium on the theme of Artemisia with the participation of political authorities and health professionals.
Issama contends that this plant can be instrumental in helping fight malaria effectively and cost-efficiently.

SANITATION

Installation of the first latrines thanks to a partnership made with the mayor of Deguela, recently elected at the regional parliament of Mandé, Mali, and setting up of a technical management committee to ensure the durability of the project.

THE FIGHT AGAINST MALNUTRITION IN BENIN

Issama has been the co-owner as of 2013 of two spirulina production basins in partnership with local community association SANAS in Ouidah, Benin.
Current production is 20 kg per month, with a view to produce up to 60. The spirulina is delivered to children and adults with AIDS at an affordable price. The aim is to reach 300 people eventually.

WHAT WE DO IN FRANCE

AWARENESS ENHANCEMENT IN THE SPORTS CLUBS

Issama's focus is on sensitizing decision-makers and the younger generation thanks to regular campaigns.

Hence, communicating on the projects carried out in the South allow for prompting a debate on the local water-related issues in the North. An action aimed at helping the South made in the North serves as a means of sensitization and information; it offers opportunities de organize sports and other kinds of events, debates, Water Days, festivals, etc.

Rouen, Normandy -

Partnership with a basketball club (Hauts de Rouen Basket): sensitization of the young players to water-related issues in Africa such as access to fresh water, hygiene and sanitation.
